Unaffiliated billboard (pro-SMER) - Bratislava, 2010
This billboard was displayed at the central bus station in Bratislava before the election in June 2010. It appears to have been produced by amateurs, but clearly they are pro-Fico and pro-SMER since the image depicts Robert Fico being physically attacked by the various Slovak media representatives. Fico was heavily attacked by the media during his time as Prime Minister from 2006-2010, which encouraged him to pass a harsh media law that limited the ability of the press to make personal attacks on public figures, justified or not. The popular magazine Týždeň (meaning 'weekly') published an issue with a cover that showed Fico's face with a giant red 'X' across it, to indicate that voters should eliminate him at the ballot box.
