Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKU) - Bratislava, 2012
The text reads: "Cooperation in Europe", "For more jobs in Slovakia". This billboard featuring Foreign Affairs Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda is displayed all over the capital, and surprisingly few of them have been vandalised, given the recent Gorilla accusations against him and the decline of his influence in national politics and his own party. There is a certain desperation in the SDKU camp a few weeks before the vote as opinion polls now either place them at the border of the 5% threshold needed to enter parliament or just below it. It is true that the SDKU typically performs better on election day than the opinion polls suggest, but all bets are off in the wake of the Gorilla findings.
